Outreach is an important part of our research project because it helps us share our work with the wider community. By engaging with students, researchers, and the public, we aim to make our research more accessible, encourage collaboration, and increase its positive impact beyond the university. Here are some initiatives led by our PIs and students.
Der Vorlesungstag – Uni Profs lesen für Kita Kids
University Professors read for kindergarten children

Since 2024, the Family Services Office has participated in the nationwide Reading Day through its series "The LECTURE DAY: University Professors Read to Preschoolers." Professors from various institutes and departments at JGU switch gears—moving from "lecturing mode" to "reading mode"—to read aloud to children aged 5 and up in one of JGU’s lecture halls. This special lecture supports the mission of the nationwide Reading Day and promotes reading aloud, while also creating an opportunity to welcome children to campus and make their presence visible.
On November 21st 2025, Professors Shikha Dhiman and Pol Besenius were invited to read the children's book "The very hungry caterpillar / Die kleine Raupe Nimmersatt" by the german-american author Eric Carle. Each read aloud in their native languages: Shikha read it in English and Hindi and Pol did it in French and Luxembourgish.

Workshop "Introduction to Molecular Dynamics with GROMACS", by Cyrille Ngueldjou at the University of Dschang, Cameroon – May 26th 2026
Our graduate student Cyrille Ngueldjou organized a workshop at the University of Dschang, Cameroon, to share his knowledge on molecular dynamics, a topic that is not yet part of the studies there. The workshop, in collaboration with the Physics Department and the Condensed Matter and Nanomaterials Laboratory, is aimed at not just students but also to advanced researchers interested in learning molecular dynamics; it will cover introductory concepts, basics of the software GROMACS, set up parameters for protein simulations, energy minimization and equilibrations, trajectory analysis, and visualization of results. Cyrille also gave a research seminar at the “Condensed Matter, Electronics, and Signal Processing Research Unit” (CMESPRU) on May 27th as part of this visit to his hometown University.
